Let’s talk about blogging consistently. When I first started my blog, I mentioned that I have been longing to do this for a long time because of my love for writing. While I do want my blog to also be successful, it is not a top priority of mine for it to blow up overnight. In order to ensure that it has a chance to be successful, I have to be consistent when it comes to blogging. This means sticking to my blogging and posting schedule.

Being Consistent is Not a Piece of Cake

Since the beginning of my blogging journey, I am proud of myself that I have only missed my posting days a maximum of 3 times – 1 of those I believe I posted a day later than I was supposed to. While I was a bit hard on myself for not posting the other 2 times, I got over it.

The truth is that life happens and it can get in the way of a lot of things.

A few blog posts back, I told you all how I have been super busy recently and that’s because it is summertime and I’m in FULL SUMMER MODE. Sorry, not sorry.

This makes being consistent tough. Many of my readers may know that this blog is a part-time thing for me. I do have a full-time job where I am constantly writing and outside of work I am trying to live my life and tend to my other obligations.

My Tips for Blogging Consistently

My job revolves around marketing and frankly, the importance of website content i.e. blogging consistently. With that being said, I know a lot about how crucial it is to stay on top of things which is one of the reasons I was so hard on myself in the first place. In any case, here are a few of my tips on how to master the habit of being consistent with blogging.

1. Set Goals for Yourself

Goal setting is crucial because you know what you are working towards. You know what to work on, what to prioritize, and it can help you stay on track. I use a planner where I write a bunch of notes including the kinds of blogs I will post, when I have to have them written by, and any details I want to add. If you want to post 3 blogs a week, write it down and plan it out so that you can determine whether it is possible and how to stay on track with it.

2. Plan Content Ahead of Time

I try to do this as often as possible. When you know what you are going to post, it gets easier. When you have a topic to write about, you can get it out of the way or at least plan out your schedule accordingly in order to write it. Keep a list of blogging ideas so that you never have to ask yourself “what am I going to write about now?” Write up a few drafts and edit them as it gets closer to posting time. You can also schedule them to be posted automatically to save you time.

3. Engage and Be Active on Social Media

Interacting and engaging with your following on social media is also an important step. This is a way to hold yourself accountable when it comes to blogging consistently. You will be able to keep your followers updated, informed, and engaged.

4. Develop Writing Habits

Developing a flow when writing will help you stay on track and motivated. Devote certain days or hours to writing and stick to it. Shut down or ignore all distractions. Use outlines to plan out your blogs or start with the headlines first. The bottom line is to find something that works and stick to it.

Yes, blogging consistently can get overwhelming sometimes, especially when you have a lot on your plate and other things to prioritize. Don’t get down on yourself for missing a day or two. However, make sure that you make a plan to get back on the right track and not make it a habit to miss out on posting.
