4 of My Favorite Self-Tanners to Use – No Streaks and No Blotches

My Favorite Self-Tanners L'Oreal Sublime Bronze Non Tinted

Memorial Day is right around the corner in America which means that everyone is going to be headed to the beach. If you are not in America, chances are the weather is starting to get warmer and warmer which means beach/pool season is upon us. This is great because it means that most of us can start to get our tan on! However, until that tan develops, you don’t want to look pale in those shorts or sundresses. That’s why I am compiling a small list of my favorite self-tanners that leave no streaks or blotches when applied correctly!

I live right by the beach, but between work and my other obligations, it can sometimes get difficult to go to the beach and lay out in order to get the proper tan shade. I have used some really great self-tanners in the past so, here they are!

  1. L’Oréal Paris Sublime Bronze Silky Lotion Self-Tanning – $10

This one is probably one of my absolute favorite self-tanners because it works for your face and body. It is like regular lotion and hydrates your skin while leaving it with a natural bronzed glow. Plus, the tan forms super fast and you can speed it up by applying a second coating! I use the non-tinted one which I can find in Bulgaria in most DM stores, however, you can also order the tinted one online!

  1. Jergens Natural Glow – $9

The best part about this one is that it comes in two different shades – Fair to Medium and Medium to Tan. I have a naturally warmer undertone for my skin rather than cool which means that my skin is yellow or golden versus pink. Ideally, this means that I tan faster and get more brown than burnt. That’s why I like the Medium to Tan shade since it doesn’t end up looking fake.

  1. Tropez Tanning Essentials Self Tan Express Bronzing – $44

This one is a bit on the pricier side, but worth it if you want a fast tan. It is a mousse formula that you can apply with or without a tanning mitt. You can leave it on for 1-hour for a light sun-kissed look, 2-hours for a healthy-looking tan, and 3-hours for a deep bronzed look. Once your desired tan is achieved, you shower to wash it off. St. Tropez also has a bunch of different kinds of self-tanners which is why I like the brand so much, so there is usually something for everyone.

  1. Loving Tan Deluxe Bronzing Mousse – $35

This is another one of my favorite self-tanners that I have used and found to work extremely well! It is a mousse and it really simple to apply. I have used the medium and dark shades in the past, but it all depends on the level of tan that I have at the moment. When I am pale I start off with the medium just so I don’t look orange or have an “unnatural” look. You can buy the applicator mitt separately for $15 or buy a value pack with the tanner and the mitt included in order to save a bit of money. The applicator really makes everything go on smoother and even, plus the tan forms super fast.

Self-Tanning Tips

It is incredibly important to exfoliate your skin before applying these self-tanners so that you can get an even look. Usually the day before or the day of works best. You may need to test out a few different ones based on your skin complexion so just be patient. You can always test out a part of your leg and see how it develops before applying the self-tanner all over your body.

Also, if you are not using a mitt, make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly after applying the tanner because they most likely will turn orange and you probably don’t want that. Unless you’re into that whole Oompa Loompa look – no judgments there. You also shouldn’t apply the lotion to the bottom of your feet.

I can’t wait until the weather gets even warmer because the beach and the sun are calling my name. In the meantime, these are some of my favorite self-tanners to use in order to avoid that pale look! What are some that have worked for you?
