Taking care of my skin has become more and more of a priority of mine recently, especially since I noticed the drastic change in my skin over the past 2 years. I had never done any kind of professional spa facial treatment until last year. It was always at-home masks and cleansers – which actually worked for me! Not that they don’t work now, but I felt like I needed more. I tried out Microdermabrasion last year for the first time and I just got my 3rd treatment which has to be the best one yet!
What is Microdermabrasion?
Not everyone knows what microdermabrasion is, even if they have heard of it so, let me give you the breakdown. Microdermabrasion is a spa treatment that resurfaces the upper or outermost layers of the skin using crystals to gently exfoliate the skin. The process should be painless even though there are a few different levels of intensity. The tool that is used for the exfoliation also has a vacuum that sucks up the crystals along with the dead skin cells. This process accelerates new skin cell production while promoting collagen and elastin growth. It can improve your skin while getting rid of acne scars, fine wrinkles, and it can enhance the color of your skin.
My Experience with Microdermabrasion
I got the treatment done at Aqua House in Varna and their procedure is done with fine diamonds. The process takes about 30-40 minutes and I immediately saw results after this treatment.
The beautician first cleansed my face to remove any dirt or impurities. She then began with the microdermabrasion and started off with a lower intensity so that it didn’t hurt or scratch my skin. You can increase it based on your pain tolerance or need, but I felt like it was doing its job at the setting it was on.
After the microdermabrasion, I ended up getting an Ultrasound and Ampoule treatment. An ampoule is a serum that has active ingredients that can boost the improvement of your skin. It is great for antibacterial purposes, hydration, nourishment, antioxidants, and anti-aging. At Aqua House they have 3 different kinds to choose from – Collagen, Hyaluronic Acid, and Vitamin. I went with collagen because it helps improve skin elasticity.
The ampoule is applied and an ultrasound tool is then used to help it take effect. The process took about 10 minutes. The beautician then applied an herbal face mask which I stayed with for about 15 minutes.
The Result After Microdermabrasion
Depending on your skin type and condition, effects are likely to be seen after 3-6 consecutive treatments. You can have microdermabrasion done in 10-15 day intervals. However, this was my 3rd time having the procedure done within a year and I saw great effects after this treatment alone. It is normal for you to have a bit of redness afterward, but for me it was minimal. My skin was incredibly smooth, soft, and shiny after!
I would certainly recommend microdermabrasion treatments, especially for those who have skin imperfections or damaged skin. You can always ask your dermatologist, too!
Thanks for reading about my experience with microdermabrasion! Have you tried this treatment before? Let me know how it went!
